MY FIRST COMPETITION

There I was standing in the middle of a huge gym, pulling out the floor to our show, wearing makeup and beautiful leotards, with hundreds of people staring at me and the rest of the team.

I felt like I was the only one there. It felt weird, being in the middle, practically the center of attention.

But at the same time, looking around the whole gym, a giant smile grew on my face. It was the first time I was performing for Color Guard, and I knew the show would be great.

All of a sudden the music was starting. I looked around and everyone in the audience was clapping their hands and yelling for the team.

I turned my head and looked at my mom. She was sitting there waving her hands at me to get my attention and yelling she loved me.

At that instant second I was scared and shaking. I didn't know what to do. I can't back out now I thought. And right then and there it was my turn to go out there and perform.

As I was performing the smile grew back on my face, knowing that the whole team and I were doing great.

Then the music stopped. The show was over. Everyone in the audience was clapping.

Wow I thought. I can't wait till we can do that again.
